canterbury's

Hello Yesterday I had canterbury swimming  champs. It was held at rolleston pool. The events I swam in was   backstroke, breaststroke and the year 5 mixed relay. Over all I got eighth in backstroke, tenth in the realy and fourteenth in breaststroke. I was pretty pleased about my scores as I got the highest placing in the school. There were 6 people from my school that were year 5 and 6 including me. There were about 742 swimmers from schools around canterbury in all the age groups.

Hello This week we had Yori and Torsten from Canterbury korfball. Korfball rules and how to play. there are two teams and 4 people on a team 2 girls and 2 boys  the am of the game is to get the ball in your korf (goal)  the goal are like netball goals except they are made of plastic  you can't move with the ball if you don't have the ball you can move where ever you want  girls defend girls and boys defend boys if you are going for the shot and you are getting defended you can't shoot I read this on rules of sport  website. ''Korfball is a Dutch game that is rooted in both netball and basketball. A team game, it is played with eight players on each side, . Scoring points (goals) is done by putting the ball through the opposition’s raised basket.'' Thank you for reading.

hello today we had don from newa  to talk to us about eels and the water here are some things i learnt eels can swim forward and back there is long fin eels, short fin eel and Australian long fin eel in New Zealand  freshwater eels used to live in the sea there are 19 speeches of eels in the world the longest eel is two meters long and quite fat  if you put your finger in a eels moth you won't get it out  a big female eel will breed up to 4 to 20 thousand eggs the male eel grows up to 75 cm  it takes 400 km to swim to Tonga the eels with spots are Australian long fin eel  this is the size of the longest eel

As-salam alaykum (peace be with you) This morning we had some people that were missionaries from South Sudan. Their names are Phil and Janet they talked to us about South Sudan. Here are some things I learnt. The capital is Juba They don't have any beaches but they have a river that goes from Uganda through South Sudan, Sudan and then into Egypt They speak 65 languages  Some people drink 35 litres of water a day It get up to 42 dredges in the day, and only down to 35 in the night.  They keep cool at night by putting there towel in the shower and then back on the bed but its dry again in half an hour

Good morning Today we participated in a webinar about new Zealand's waterways. I learnt that...  Salt water can be made into drinking water.  Some water can be used from one stream to fill another stream  And copper from car brakes going into the storm water Here is a picture of us watching it. thanks liam j
